           Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day, especially you Caity!

Last Sunday was "Lovapalooza 2". A grandiose event where thousands of couple attempt to break the World Record for "Most Couples Kissing Simultaneously". The Filipino's snatched it from Chileans a couple of years ago and this year are trying to go one up. The major sponsor of the event is Close Up, the equivalent to Colgate. Here's a quote from the website:

"GET close and join in as Close Up aims to break the record--again! Pucker-up for the biggest, most extraordinary, lip-smackingest Valentine kissing event: Close Up Lovapalooza Part 2, happening on February 12, 2005, simultaneously at Baywalk Manila, Davao, Cebu, and Angeles.

The entire stretch of Roxas Boulevard, from the Manila Yacht Club to T.M. Kalaw was closed to traffic for the event. People from all walks of life gathered and enthusiastically took part of this historical moment.

Love was definitely in the breezy Manila air as people convened to declare their affection. Filipinos--young and old, rich and poor--united in love!

This year, with Lovapalooza 2, the aim can only go higher. The massive public display of affection is expected to draw a much bigger crowd of smoochers nationwide. The goal--a million kisses-whether you be in Luzon, Visayas, or Mindanao"

I don't know if the record was broken or not. I haven't kept in touch with the news here recently, I've been coming home late. But there was lots of celebrities and musical guests. It's Big Day Out meets Sopornos 5.

Sometimes I drive around in my Aunty's Toyota Corolla. Driving here is awesome and a pain in the neck all at the same time. It's all about eye contact here, the road rules are followed very loosely. Use the horn to create attention, it's not like in Australia where the horn is used to say "YOU FUCKING MORON! I'M DRIVING HERE!"...nope here in the Philippines it's used for alerting that you are overtaking, running a red light or going a tad faster. Because of the excessive gridlock traffic (especially in arterial roads known as EDSA and MacArthur Highway) most commuters are used to a relatively slow speed. So when I drive constantly 60km/h (whenever I can) I'm seen as a madman.

Played 5 hours of badminton today. MAN that kills the wrist. Y'know when your muscles get tired you get this numb feeling? Like pins-and-needles. I had my first taste of badminton late last year and I really enjoy it, alot of running around hehe.

I was looking on the net for Robocop movies and researching how many sequels there are. The latest sequel I have found is Robocop 3. Most masterpieces do come in trilogies.

    DVD Town

"The story's premise is that the city's residents are finally putting up a resistance to the evil OCP, and urban guerillas are fighting the big corporation with RoboCop on their side. OCP is now owned by a Japanese conglomerate, which sends in a robot of its own, Otomo (Bruce Locke), a sort of RoboNinja with a sword. It all gets more than a little silly yet without a shred of humor."

    IMDB Plot Summary

The mega corporation Omni Consumer Products is still bent on creating their pet project, Delta City, to replace the rotting city of Detroit. Unfortunately, the inhabitants of the area have no intention of abandoning their homes simply for desires of the company. To this end, OCP have decided to force them to leave by employing a ruthless mercenary army to attack and harass them. An underground resistance begins and in this fight, Robocop must decide where his loyalties lie.

This movie sounds so bad that I WANT to see it. Alot of the the user opinions on the IMDB site claim that the actor that played robocop was the best actor in the film! I should rent it when I get back. If anybody has free time I suggest to head to the IMDB link and click on "User Comments" the film gets absolutely slammed.

That's it from me for now. Tata

           Ultra Robocop

Lately the biggest thing in the media here in the Philippines is a horrible stampede incident. 74 people died during the first Anniversary celebrations of a TV show called "Wowowee" (mentioned post before). Yes, a stampede. The TV Show promises prizes, of course, those less fortunate will gather. 20,000 waited for days on end to hope for tickets that only covered a fraction of the crowd. Of course there's going to be chaos.

There's chaos when I catch the train, when I catch the jeep or catch the bus here. But that's ordered chaos, theres logic to the madness. What a fucking shitpile the stampede must've been. One can only imagine.

    Today, argh, today.

Today my family decided that we should watch a DVD. "Yeah, cool" I said, "Let's watch 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang'" I said. So we did, however 10 mins. within the movie my aunty raises her hand and goes "HEY! This is soooooooo boring, lets change movie". Great, I love Kiss Kiss, I wouldn't mind watching it again. So I got a bit pissy, but democracy is the rule of law here, so I lost out. Out goes a nice movie I liked, in goes a digitally remastered DVD edition of a iconic movie. I groan and moan as I was subjected to the extremely long running time of said movie. However, my family was engaged, my aunty's eyes were GLUED to the screen, she was in the plot. What movie did we watch? 'Robocop 2'

    "Now THAT'S a movie"

Wait, I'm related to you yeah? Robocop, kissass cyborg that has feelings. Nice.

Nice. Today I celebrated my last day of voluntary work with council with a lesiurely drink at a bar called "JAl-AM" nice live music there. The nation's infatuation with karaoke was once a novelty when I was little, but it has turned into a sonic hell. With the few exceptions of the good voice or two, karaoke at a bar (especially when it's happy hour and the karaoke is free) can be torture.

Pictures, I prepared 189 of them for printing. A nice photo album to cherish those memories. I like printed pictures, it just has a different vibe to it compared to looking at them on the computer screen. Or maybe it's because printing 189 photos costs money and I HAVE to like them. Whatever.

Fuckin' Robocop. Manny Pacquiao will beat your ass down.
